Wakefield, Walton Colliery Nature Reserve

October 14, 2012 Leave a comment

It’s been a crisp, autumn day here, so we decided to have a nature type walk and blow away some of the cobwebs.

Walton Colliery Nature Reserve near Wakefield provided just the outlet for letting off steam.

This nature park is on the outskirts of Wakefield, and if you follow the Trans Pennine Trail north from Haw Park Wood you can find this nature park – and it’s  completely free of charge.

The two small people loved running on ahead down the paths, and there are plenty of benches dotted about to sit down on, take in the scenery and generally have a rest if you feel the need.

There’s also a lake and ponds, but sadly we didn’t get chance to get that far today as the smallest one was complaining he was tired and we’d set off in a different direction to the lake to start with, so would have had to double back.

setting off on a walk…

We’ll just have to come again and start from the opposite way next time..
