Updated: Water World is now closed

If you’re looking to take your small ones swimming, you can’t go far wrong with a trip to Water World on the outskirts of York City Centre.

Situated at the Monks Cross shopping complex, it’s a great place to splash about, and have fun as well as a swim.

All four of us (me, the Dad, the 5 year old and the 9 year old) all decided to go yesterday to check it out as we had never been before and had heard good reports on it.

It doesn’t matter what your swimming ability is, as there’s going to be something fun for everyone to do.

The 5 year old enjoyed going down the little 8 years and under slide, and splashing into the water at the bottom.

Me and the 9 year old had a trip down the ‘Lazy River’, where you go down the ‘river’ and through a tunnel, and round through to the other side.

If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, you can go on one of the three different slides, which I’m ashamed to say I chickened out of.

Yes, yes, they look great, but have you seen the SIZE of those things?! They go all the way from up near the ceiling and twist and turn all over the place!  wuss

The Dad was feeling a bit more adventurous and braver than me, and went down the ‘Torpedo’ slide.

His verdict? “BRILLIANT!” Although he looked decidedly wobbly after coming off. 🙂

You can even get something to eat or drink afterwards in the little cafe at the side of the pool if you wish after you’ve dried off.

If you’ve got water loving kids, they’ll love this place.

Next time I go I’ll have to man up and get my scaredy cat butt down the Torpedo Slide……
