Visiting Castle Howard, North Yorkshire

If the sun is shining, and the children want somewhere they can run about and explore, then you can’t go wrong with Castle Howard in North Yorkshire.

With acres of grounds to run about in, it will burn off plenty of energy and keep them happy and contented.

Mine today were found doing forward rolls on the grass, hiding behind bushes to play hide and seek with each other,  and generally running around in the walled gardens.

There were some beautiful flowers on display.

Not to mention the spectacular fountains….

This following one was easy to run around, apparently, and had them doing races around it to see who could do it the quickest.

There’s also a lake where you can take a boat trip if you fancy, and sail out while taking in the scenery. Or just sit in the Boatside cafe, and have a cup of tea whilst watching the boats sail by….

As the gardens are quite extensive, it can be quite a walk from the car park to the lake, adventure playground, and the main house. Hop on the tractor ride that picks up approximately every 20 minutes and hop on wherever and whenever you choose.

If you’ve got kids that need energy burning off, it’s a brilliant place to visit.

That looks like lots of fun, though keeping mine out of the water would be a challenge. I love that there looks like so much space to run around and play. The tractor ride sounds excellent for little tired legs too. Thank you for sharing on Country Kids.
