Doctor Who week at Bradford National Media Museum

If there’s any Doctor Who fans in your family, they’ll love it at Bradford’s National Film and Media Museum this half term as it has been invaded by Daleks and all things Doctor Who.

A five minutes walk from Bradford Interchange station, it was a case of step off the train and a few minutes later we were in the Museum.

Daleks may be scary and have you hiding behind the sofa, but “The Science of The Daleks” will make you ‘understand’ them a bit more.

How do they move?

Can they go up stairs?

What are they made of?

All these questions were answered in the little presentation given.

Exterminate, exterminate!”

There were also activity areas where you could make your own light up Tardis with L.E.D lights, which the Dad enjoyed doing just as much or even more so than the kids.

Or you could make your own motorised Dalek and have it gliding about.

One fully functioning, gliding Dalek at the end!

For children 6 and under, they’ll be kept entertained making Scary Monsters out of plasticine.

The 6 year old had great fun sticking the googly eyes on and giving it scary hair.

I suggested sticking one eye on top of his head, and one in the middle. Well, it is meant to be scary… 😀

After all the crafty bits were finished, we headed off to the virtual studios where we could stand in a blue coloured studio room  and see ourselves on the TV screens, running away from Daleks and Cybermen, or standing near the Weeping Angels.

Don’t blink!!

There was also a Doctor Who quiz, in which you could navigate your way around the Museum picking up answers to the questions in order to win prizes.

All in all, a great fun packed day out for any Doctor Who fans out there!

A small charge is in place for things like make your own light up Dalek and the motorised Dalek for the materials (£1 per child per activity but well worth it.)

Free entry to everything else in the Museum so a great value day out.

Doctor Who Week is running all half term at The National Media Museum this week, and more details can be found at the website here

<disclaimer – I received a free token to do the couple of  £1 activities such as the Dalek making. All opinions are strictly my own and we had a great day out.

Will be back to visit soon!
