A day of geek heaven at KnightCon Star Car and Heroes 2013

If you’re a child of the Eighties who liked to watch a bit of TV, you’d have loved to have been at Xscape, Yorkshire today.

For the complex was taken over by stars and cars of the small screen.

Although the title of the event was Knightcon, paying homage to all things Knightrider with Kitt the car as the main attraction, there were plenty of different cars and stars from different shows as well.

Looming over everyone, grinning manically, was the 30ft tall Staypuft Marshmallow Man.

Quick, run! Who ya gonna call?!

Not to fear though, as the Ghostbusters were on hand not far away so were obviously on the case. Phew.

Another favourite film of mine, Back To The Future, was in attendance and Doc Brown’s De’lorean time machine was on display.

If you looked really closely inside the car, you could even see the Grays Sports Almanac in the front of the car, which the old Biff from the Future gave to himself in the past so that he’d know the results of every sporting event in history and make himself a rich man.

As well as a hoverboard. Which, incidentally, I am REALLY hoping they’re cracking on with making as I need a hoverboard! It’s 2015 soon and I’m expecting to be getting around with hoverboards….

Another great telly show, with one of the best theme tunes EVER was also showcased.

The song?

and General Lee today: “YEEEE – HAWWW!” 🙂

I also saw Del Boy’s van from Only Fools and Horses, which piqued the interest of the 10 year old as he’s been introduced to old Only Fools and Horses dvd’s this week and he absolutely loves them! So he was excited to see the three wheeler parked up outside Xscape.

Lovely jubbly!

Doctor Who fans weren’t left out either. There were different costumes from various different doctors on display, and some Doctor Who lookalikes, with one bearing a very uncanny resemblance to David Tennant, which made me do a double take!

There were Daleks, and a Tardis. The Daleks were intimidating visitors in the main complex by shouting out “Exterminate! Exterminate!”

I’ve all fingers crossed it’s back at Xscape again next year, for another epic convention.

I’ll be straight there!
